France will not announce the diplomatic boycott of the Olympic Games in Beijing, which will be held in February 2022, but will take steps at the political level. This was stated by the Minister of Family Education France Jean-Michel Blancker on the air BFM channel, reports TASS.
“No, France will not do this,” he said, answering the question about the prospects for the diplomatic boycott of the Olympic Games in Beijing, following the example of the United States and Australia.
Blanener noted that it should be separated from politics. He believes that if this is not done, the competitive process in sports will be killed.
“It is necessary to condemn the human rights violations, but at the same time maintain an adequate approach. We, of course, condemned the earlier phenomenon of the persecution of minorities, such as Uigurs, violation of human rights. I expressed concern about the situation with tennis player – this concern is still still saved,” – he stressed.
The minister added that he personally does not plan to attend the Olympics, and the Minister-Delegate on Sports Affairs Roxana Marasinyan speaks about this separately.
Earlier, the United States announced the diplomatic boycake of the Olympiad of 2022 in Beijing, which involves the refusal of a trip to the PRC of officials. At the same time, the team of athletes will take part in the games. The US Inciative was supported by Australia, United Kingdom and Canada. China in response promised to accept countermeasures.
