France defense costs can grow by € 3 billion next year. This was announced in an interview with the Sunday newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche head of the French military department Sebastien Lekornnya.
“I confirm the government’s intention to increase the military budget by 2023 by € 3 billion. This will be made for discussion of the parliament,” Lekornny said, answering the corresponding issue of the publication.
He noted that the military department intends to evaluate the experience in the light of the situation in Ukraine and “if necessary to make additional adjustments” to the defense budget.
According to Lekornny, the Ministry of the Armed Forces intends to revise defense expenses taking into account the experience of the Ukrainian conflict. “The President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron instructed us together with the chief of the main headquarters of the French Armed Forces to assess the state of our defense industry,” the minister said.
