Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the American political scientist and philosopher Francis Fukuyama, suffered a complete political failure. The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine will not only change the world order, but will also become a disaster for the Russian ruler. Fukuyama set out his thoughts in an interview with the German newspaper Velt. He is sure that Moscow will pay dearly for the invasion of Ukraine.
“The new world order acquires a form. This is the result of the many years of struggle of the Western democratic countries of the Western against authoritarian regimes, primarily Russia and China. This war is the culmination of this process. Russia is going to defeat, having already suffered a series of failures on the battlefield, and further It will be replaced by the Ukrainian army from the Donbass. This is a catastrophic failure of Putin. Not only in the war. This is a complete political failure, ”the political scientist assured.
Fukuyama identified several main points that influenced the world order due to the war unleashed by Putin in Ukraine.
1) NATO will be expanded due to the inclusion of Sweden and Finland.
2) The West has not been so one for a long time.
3) Germany revised its eastern policy of the last 40 years.
4) The United States restored the leadership of Trump.
5) The West accepted Ukraine in allies and provides it with massive assistance.
Fukuyama believes that Russia will be very difficult to get out of the abyss into which she abandoned herself. This country will become an outcast and will be excluded from the international community, like North Korea.
The philosopher also noted that China can apply pressure to the weakened Russia, for example in Siberia.
“I do not think that the Chinese will do it by the power of weapons. They have other ways to get Russian resources, such as oil and gas. In addition, Russia, punished by sanctions, already begs China to buy these products. Putin will surely get into the sphere of influence of China. In addition to similarity, there are differences in the behavior of China and Russia. I used to think that Russia would not want to use force, for example, as a Soviet Union in the Middle East. But Putin taught me another. He applied force and introduced troops to Syria to Syria. , Crimea, to the Donbass and even sent to Venezuela. And now he has invaded Ukraine. He recklessly went to great risk, ”Fukuyama explained.
The expert emphasized that “the Chinese are not so stupid” and have patience.
“They know that thanks to their economies and technologies, they will become stronger. The risky military adventurism is not in the style of China,” Fukuyama assures and emphasizes that the West should categorically be economically dependent on authoritarian regimes – neither on Russia nor on China .
