Fridiver from Turkey immersed in memory of victims of earthquake

The holder of the world record for Fridiving Shahik Erjyumen made a dive in the memory of the victims of destructive February earthquakes in the south and southeast of Turkey.

The athlete left red and white cloves at the bottom and surface of Lake Van in the east of Turkey. The process was filmed on a special underwater camera.

Erjumen Ambassador to Turkey for the protection of the aquatic environment and the “zero waste” of the UN Development Program (UNDP).

In an interview with Anadola (AA), Fridiver said that she had a special attitude to Lake Van.

According to her, this is due to the fact that 10 years ago she broke the world record for diving here. “Our country had to survive very difficult days during earthquakes in Kamhramanmarash, it faced huge trials. We lost many of our compatriots as a result of a natural disaster. Today I wanted to honor their memory. Flowers in the lake were left in honor of our dead compatriots”, she said.

Erjyumen promised that if she manages to break a new world record, then he will also be dedicated to the memory of the victims of the earthquake.

“It is very painful to remember and think about these earthquakes. I wanted to do something in their memory. I did not dive too deep, since it was a demonstrative immersion. The action took place near the shore, the immersion was 5-10 meters. We will always honor the memory of those who died during these earthquakes, ”she added.
