From Mexico towards the United States, a new caravan of migrants of about 2500 people nominated.
According to Mexican media, thousands of migrants began a way from the city of Tapachul, located in the state of Cheyapas in the south of the country, trying to cross the US border until the new president is taking office.
The observer for migration Luis Rei Garcia said that there are already about 2500 migrants in the caravan, and their number may increase. Among the participants of the caravan are citizens of China, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Honduras, Salvadora, Guatemala and Haiti.
Venezuelan migrant Ehison Diaz in an interview with EFE agency said that many are afraid of victories in the Donald Trump elections. “Most who left Tapachul set off for a road due to fear that Trump could win. If he wins, our dreams of entering the United States can collapse,” Diaz emphasized.
Migrant from Honduras Nelson Mexy also expressed intention to cross the border before taking office of the new president and called on the Mexican authorities not to impede their movement.
According to the International Rescue Committee (ISS), more than 700 thousand migrants arrived in Mexico from January to July.
Many migrants from Central America are trying to get to the United States through the territory of Guatemala and Mexico.
