G20 Countries Should Strengthen Fight Against Misinformation

The Big Twenty countries should focus efforts in order to counteract the spread of misinformation.

This is stated in an article by the Head of the Relations Department under the Administration of the President of Turkey Fakhrettin Altun, dedicated to the G20 leaders summit in Rio de Janeiro. The publication called “for the G20 is the time to show the initiative” written for Al Jazeera.

“The struggle for truth and justice is a general challenge to all of mankind and requires international cooperation. Having accepted these fundamental principles, G20 will inevitably have to focus on communications, especially on the fight against misinformation,” wrote, in particular, Altun.

He noted that the current international system designed to ensure stability around the world is ineffective to overcome the acute problems of our time. “The global system, including such regulatory principles as minimizing conflicts and wars, the prevention of global disasters, solidarity in the face of all crises and eliminating economic and social injustice, unfortunately, moved away from these purposes, more than ever. The state of disorder that ensures maximum benefit. Only certain countries and groups of interests will soon become the new norm of this system, ”he stated.

He emphasized that taking measures in order to prevent the development of such a scenario is no longer a “not a matter of choice, but necessity.” Altun warned that such a situation “will turn into a disaster for huge masses of people, regardless of their country, ethnic origin or social affiliation.”

He also confirmed the intention of Turkey and will continue to contribute to ensuring the regional and global world and stability and the prevention of conflicts. The head of the department emphasized that the theses “The World more than five” and “a more fair world is possible” repeatedly voiced by the President of Turkey, by the President of Turkey, indicate the presence of funds, will and potential to overcome these crises.
