The Galata Tower, one of the most famous attractions in the European part of Istanbul, will be closed for visits for a period of one month, starting on February 23. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.
The department recalled that the eighth floor of the tower was closed to visitors in November 2023 due to repair work on the roof of the building.
Current work will be carried out to ensure the seismic resistance of the building.
In addition, the restoration of the towel facade is provided.
During the restoration work, the presence of about 400 nests of migratory birds on the main walls of the tower will be taken into account. All work will be carried out taking into account bird nests and season migration season.
