Galeotti: Russian army will soon be exhausted

Honorary Professor of the Slavic of Slavici College of London and the author of two dozen books on modern Russian history, Mark Galeotti, believes that the delivery of Lisichansk to Russian troops will allow President Vladimir Putin to “liberate” the self -proclaimed LPR.

In an interview with the BBC correspondent, Galeotti explained that if the Russian army manages to take control of the Donetsk “People’s Republic”, as well as “cut off” the land corridor to the Crimea, such a layout can represent as a victory- And, probably, then [Putin] will be satisfied with the course of hostilities “

The professor believes that the capture of Lisichansk is surrounded is part of the “slow, exhausting offensive” of Moscow, but soon the Russian troops will be exhausted and how many more battles they can withstand is unknown.

“key uncertainty is how much Russians have enough, so to speak, gunpowder in powder – that is, how long they can continue the offensive,” added Mark Galeotti.
