Gazprom is ready to build gas pipelines to Turkey

It is more profitable to build new gas pipelines to Turkey than to rebuild hundreds of kilometers of the Northern Stream-1 and Northern Stream-2 after their undermining. This was stated by the head of Gazprom Alexei Miller, Russian media write.

“Experts say that to restore work after such a terrorist act, it is necessary to actually cut off a very large piece of the pipe, at a large distance, and in fact, build a new section on this site,” he said in an interview.

According to him, to restore damaged branches of gas pipelines, you need to raise the pipe filled “by hundreds of kilometers” by sea water. “These are completely different and technical and technological tasks,” said the head of Gazprom. He emphasized that Germany has not yet expressed a desire to restore the blown up threads.

Alexey Miller noted that in the current conditions it is more profitable to lay new gas pipelines in the Black Sea. “We are literally next week we will begin specific negotiations on this new project through the Black Sea,” he said.

Recall that earlier, at the Summit of Meetings on the Interaction and Provenness of Trust in Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Turkish President Recep Erdogan to create a gas hub in the country to supply Russian gas to the European Union.
