President of the National Paralympic Committee of Azerbaijan, Vice President of the International Association of Blade athletes Ilgar Ragimov is on a visit to Sierra Leone.
Having went to the African country at the invitation of the president of its Paralympic Committee, he has already met with Prime Minister Sierra Leone David Francis, Minister of Youth and Sports, President of the Olympic Committee and other officials.
Ilgar Ragimov told his African colleagues about the development of sports and the Paralympic movement in Azerbaijan, about the successes of our athletes and the integration of disabled people into society. He recalled that at the Paralympics in Tokyo, the Azerbaijani team, having gone to games consisting of 34 athletes, won 14 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals and became the 10th in the team standings.

The President of the NPC Azerbaijan suggested Sierra Leone to use the experience of our country in the implementation of a number of projects. In turn, the receiving party highly appreciated the development of sports and especially the Paralympic movement in Azerbaijan.
It is interesting that in a short period this is already the second visit of our high -ranking sports official to the Black Continent. A few days earlier, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Genghis Huseynzade visited Cameroon. Being the second Vice President of the Islamic Soldar Sports Federation (ISSF) and the President of the Islamic Games Inspection Commission-2025, which will be held in Camerun, Genghis Huseynzade got acquainted with the infrastructure and sports facilities that will host the competition. He also met with Prime Minister of Cameroon Joseph NSUT, President of the Olympic Committee, Minister of Youth and Sports, mayor of the capital – the city of Yaunde and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
