Georgia asked for support from Turkey as a situation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia and in matters related to the integration of the country in NATO. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
Commenting on the speech of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the opening in Antalya of the Diplomatic Forum, the politician noted that it is extremely important for Tbilisi when an application with ankara as a strategic partner sounds a statement about the unacceptability of the occupation of Georgian territories.
According to him, during the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili to Turkey, the Georgian side has received firm guarantees of the country’s support “in all formats”.
“We see concrete results of this,” said Zalkaliani. The position of Turkey in Georgia was “very clear” and during the recent NATO summit in Brussels, he added.
