Georgia practically restored tourism income, which sharply sank due to Pandemia of Coronavirus. This statement was made by the Deputy Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, noting that in the first 8 months of 2022, Georgia earned $ 1.2 billion on tourism.
According to the report, in January-September, Georgia visited 3,892,605 foreign travelers. Compared to 2019, the number of international tourist visits was restored by 83.8%, and the number of visits to international travelers was 65.3%.
Kvlivishvili also noted that the costs of one tourist visit compared to 2019 increased by 31% and amount to 2562 Lary.
The above statistics say that tourists from Saudi Arabia ($ 1729), Kazakhstan ($ 1511), Israel (1379) spend the most in Georgia. The least in Georgia is spent money by tourists from Armenia ($ 334), Azerbaijan ($ 450) and Turkey ($ 658).
Meanwhile, according to the National Agency for Tourism, the largest number of visitors to Georgia in the first 9 months of 2022 – 780 339 people – was from Russia. According to this indicator, Turkey is in second place – 543 464, and Armenia is in third place – 521 750.
The Government of Georgia also noted that with the current dynamics of recovery by 2025, 5.2 billion dollars will be equal to the tourism industry.
