Georgia: banned smoking in a taxi and in presence of minors

Parliament of Georgia at an extraordinary meeting in the first reading adopted a package of legislative changes, which concerns the commissioning of smoking in taxi, water transport and in a private vehicle in the presence of minors. According to Georgia online, it is reported by the Site of the Legislative Body.

Smoking in a taxi and water transport will be shifted by a fine of 200 lari (more than 64 US dollars), and neglects new rules in a private car in the presence of minors – 50 Lari (more than 16 US dollars). Monetary sanctions will double in case of repeated violations during the year.

Georgia began to tighten the fight against smoking since 2018. Then for the first time an anti-bacter law was adopted, prohibiting smoking in restaurants, bars and cafes. Later, the government of the republic increased the excise tax on tobacco products, as well as obliged a company engaged in the production of cigarettes, place on the image packages indicating damage to smoking.
