Georgian authorities can close the border for Russians from September 26, opposition deputy Non Mamulashvili said on the air of the Freed television channel. According to her, Russian citizens are also waiting for “more stringent checks.”
“The Georgian government has not yet done anything to stop this mass influx of Russians. As far as they explained to us, on Monday (September 26) they (the authorities) will close the borders. This is the only thing they could do at this stage” – said Mamulashvili.
She added that from September 26, men – citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 55 years will not be able to cross the border. The parliamentarian believes that a large number of Russians in Georgia are a direct threat to the country’s national security.
