Georgian authorities strengthened control at checkpoints with Russia to prevent the transport of sanctions goods. This was stated by the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the Georgian prime minister, the import and export of goods is carried out through 20 customs points, where the goods are controlled by more than a thousand customs officers.
“In order to strengthen customs control of goods moving on the Russian -Georgian border, the number of employees of the Kazbegi customs points has been increased, X -ray scanners are established and full control is carried out on the spot,” the Prime Minister of Georgia said.
Garibashvili also noted that a special group for customs risks for military and dual -use goods was created, as well as those that are included in the sanctions list. Cases of their export or import are strictly controlled, the Prime Minister emphasized.
