In Georgia, more than 800 medicines for the treatment of chronic and cancer will be checked by another 40%, said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at a government meeting.
According to the Georgian media reports, from February 15, it is forbidden to sell medicines in Georgia to treat chronic and cancer at prices higher than the state.
“As we promised society, reference prices are involved from today. As a result, more than 800 medicines for the treatment of chronic and oncological diseases will be checked by an average of 40%,” Garibashvili said.
He emphasized that other groups of drugs will also introduce reference prices.
Since March 2022, the Georgian market has opened for medicines from Turkey, thanks to which medicines in the country have fallen in price by 60-80%. As a result, the population of Georgia saved a total of about 200 million Lari on medicines, Georgian media noted.
