Georgian authorities intend to declare Orthodoxy a state religion. This was reported by the Georgian media with reference to the head of the Public Relations Service of the Patriarchate of Georgia Andria Jagmidze.
According to him, representatives of the authorities are discussing this issue with the clergy.
Earlier, local media have spread the information that the ruling party “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” plans to declare Orthodoxy a state religion.
