During an official visit to Turkey, which began on March 3, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani came up with an initiative to establish intensive cooperation between the three countries of the South Caucasus – Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. This is reported by Kommersant.
“We offer our neighbors the city of Tbilisi as a platform for dialogue,” the Georgian minister said, specifying that he means the establishment of relations focused on the development of the economy, business and culture.
“First of all, we are talking about the three countries of the South Caucasus,” said the head of the Georgian diplomatic department.
According to Zalkaliani, the three countries should “take care of the region themselves.” “Who, if not we, the three South Caucasian countries, should decide the fate and future of our region? Therefore, we propose to get together and start a discussion within this format,” David Zalkaliani developed the topic.
