The ceremony of the transfer of military equipment took place in the territory of the 4th Infantry Brigade in Vasani. The event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Tbilisi Ali Kaan Orbai, Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia Sergo Gianelidze, Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze and others.
Turkish ambassador Orbai and the officials of Georgia examined the armored vehicles.
In an interview with an anadol correspondent, the Turkish ambassador said that the supply of equipment of the Armed Forces of Georgia is an example of support from Turkey.
“These armored vehicles are also a specific indicator of decisive support for Turkey Security, Independence and Territorial integrity of Georgia. We believe that these machines will play an important role in the development of the potential for the deterrence and defense of Georgia,” Orbai said.
Speaking of the Turkish defense and industrial complex, the Turkish ambassador said that Turkey today can satisfy its own defense needs, attracting up to 80 percent of domestic production and domestic resources.
We expect Georgia to prefer our defense industry produced in the field, produced taking into account the most advanced technologies, ”Orbay said.
The ambassador noted that Turkey has the opportunity to satisfy Georgia’s needs in the most economically effective way thanks to the shortest supply line.
“We want our cooperation to continue to expand both in the military and defense spheres, and in any other area,” he added.
In turn, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia Sergo Gianelidze also emphasized the importance of cooperation with Turkey.
“Georgia and Turkey have long and successfully cooperate in the field of defense. Today, the forces of the Georgian defense receive armored vehicles from Turkey according to NATO standards. Such events are very important for Georgia, since the defense capability of our country will be strengthened, and the defense forces will be closer to compatibility from NATO standards, ”he said.
