The first vice-speaker of the Georgian Parliament Gia Volsky denied the assumption that the authorities intend to restore the territorial integrity of the country by force, writes Sputnik Georgia.
According to him, a number of non-governmental organizations state that residents of the territories of Georgia – Abkhazia and South Ossetia are alarmed by the information that the Georgian authorities allegedly consider the possibility of restoring territorial integrity by force.
“This is definitely not true,” said Volsky at a briefing in parliament.
Georgia lost control over Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region (South Ossetia) after armed conflicts in the early 1990s, and after the August events of 2008, Russia recognized their independence.
