Georgia: stated that extradition of Saakashvili is impossible

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani called “an impossible from a legal point of view” extradition to Ukraine for the ex-president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili. “It’s not about any extradition of speech. The absurd at all is discussing it,” the Georgian minister said, his words leads Deutsche Vella.

According to Zalkaliani, the Georgian side provided the Ukrainian side of all information about the situation with Saakashvili, who was convicted in Georgia in four criminal cases and sentenced to 6 years of conclusion.

Georgian Foreign Minister does not believe that the arrest of Saakashvili will negatively affect Ukraine-Georgian relations.

Mikhail Saakashvili, founder of the United National Movement Party (UNE), returned to Georgia on October 1, on the eve of local elections, which the opposition considered as a referendum on the confidence of the current government. On the same day he was detained in Tbilisi. The ex-president returned to his homeland from Ukraine, where he received citizenship and occupied various public positions, including the Governor of the Odessa region. In prison, Saakashvili announced a hunger strike.
