Georgia: Supporters Of European Integration Walked Along Streets Of Tbilisi

Protests against the decision of the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze not to initiate negotiations on joining the European Union until 2028 lasting 24th day.

Residents of various regions of the country joined the protest shares in the capital. During the day, participants walked along the streets of Tbilisi, expressing dissatisfaction with the position of the government on the issue of European integration.

In the evening, the demonstrators gathered at the Parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue, shouting anti -government slogans. Many of them were dressed in national costumes of their regions, and also held the flags of Georgia and the European Union.

Particular attention was attracted by the performance of the dance team, which presented one of the regions of Georgia. Dancers performed traditional numbers right on the street, causing the stormy applause of thousands of those gathered at the parliament.

Protesters also require a revision of the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26, claiming the need to re -conduct.

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili at a press conference announced her readiness to meet representatives of the government to discuss the current situation. According to her, the “only exit” from the crisis is repeated parliamentary elections. The President repeated his call for their holding, noting the importance of consensus between the authorities and the opposition.
