Georgia: Voting In Parliamentary Elections Began

According to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, 3,508,294 citizens of the country who choose 150 deputies are taking part in the elections.

At the same time, 3,113 747 voters will take part in the elections using electronic technologies that are first used in the country.

Another 95 910 voters will vote abroad. So 67 polling stations are open in 40 countries.

Parties will try to overcome a 5 percent barrier to pass to parliament

In general, 18 parties will fight for overcoming a 5 percent electoral barrier, including 4 electoral bloc.

According to the election results, a political party or a selective block, which received 76 seats in parliament, will be able to single -handedly form a government.

Party “Georgian Dream”, which came to power in Georgia in the elections in 2012 and scored 48.22 percent of the vote in the last elections, will try to win for the fourth time in a row.

“The largest rivals” of the ruling party are “unity for the sake of saving Georgia” – the unification of the Unified National Movement party, founded by the former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili and the Coalition Bloc, consisting of former comrades -in -arms of the ex -president Saakashvili.

Power stations will close at 20:00, after which the counting will begin.
