Confirmed gas reserves at the field in Kakheti are 16 billion cubic meters, their development will begin in the near future.
According to Interfax, this was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of Georgia Levan Davitashvili to reporters on Friday. According to him, this is the information of the State Agency for Oil and Gas.
“According to the most pessimistic calculations, gas production at this field will begin in 2024,” said Davitashvili.
According to the State Agency for Oil and Gas, the presence of natural gas at the field confirmed the well, drilled by Schlumberger specialists. The agency believes that these reserves are enough for the country for about eight years of consumption.
Georgia imports almost 100% of gas from Azerbaijan. In 2021, deliveries from a neighboring country amounted to 2.2 billion cubic meters.
