Georgia will be the chairman of the International Energy Union in 2025 for the first time. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development of the country.
On this occasion, a solemn reception was held in the capital of Austria Vienna, in which the director of the energy union, Arthur Lorki, representatives of the Secretariat of the Organization and diplomatic missions of member countries, took part.
“The chairmanship is an additional responsibility and responsibility, since it concerns the management of the entire process in the countries of the association. We believe that Georgia is able to be a leader and a fair player, which will lead us to success in 2025,” said during his speech on Events of Lorki.
According to him, that over the past three years, Georgia has achieved significant progress in fulfilling the obligations taken by the country upon joining the energy association.
The chairmanship was transferred to Georgia in the order of rotation at a meeting of the 22nd Ministry of the Energy Union in Vienna in December 2024.
The Energy Union is an international organization that ensures cooperation between the European Union and its Member States to achieve the goals of energy security, energy stability and environmental protection.
The community includes nine countries: Georgia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine.
Georgia is a member of the energy union since 2017.
