Georgian Ministry Of Internal Affairs Reported 34 Detainees For Protests In Tbilisi

Law enforcement officers detained 34 participants in the protest rally held on Shota Rustavel Avenue in Tbilisi on December 2. This was reported to the local media in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

according to the department, all of them are detained in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that the day before, 12 police officers were injured during the action.

According to the Ministry of Health of Georgia, 26 people were hospitalized during the action on December 2, including three representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Ministry of Health noted that the life of the victims does not threaten anything.

Protests in Georgia

Protest shares began in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia after the statement of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze that the republic will not begin to negotiate in the EU until the end of 2028.

On November 28, Kobahidze said that some European politicians intervene in the internal affairs of Georgia and blackmail Tbilisi with grants. “Taking all this into account, we decided not to raise the question of the start of negotiations with the EU for discussion until the end of 2028,” said the head of the Georgian government.

In protest against the decision of the government, residents of other cities go to the streets.

Georgian media write that after the government’s decision to suspend European integration of Georgian ambassadors in the USA, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Bulgaria and South Korea, they resigned from their posts.
