The Georgian Parliament of the XI convocation on Thursday declared a vote of confidence in the government, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. This is reported by local media.
The decision was made at the plenary meeting of the legislative body.
84 deputies voted for the approval of the new government composition. Nobody spoke out against.
Presenting the Parliament of the political program of his government, Irakli Kobahidze called the main priority of foreign policy to restart relations with the United States and the European Union.
Touching relations with Russia, Irakli Kobahidze declared the need to adhere to a “pragmatic policy.” “Pragmatic policy is one of the most important tools for us to preserve the world and protect our strategic interests. The settlement of the conflict between Georgia and Russia will, of course, remain one of the most important priorities,” the politician said.
In meetings of the country’s parliament, only deputies from the ruling “Georgian dream” participate. The opposition does not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections and boycott the meetings.
