Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili announced her readiness to run for a second term.
According to her, thereby she intends to contribute to the European integration of the country.
“I am ready to take on a great responsibility, including [running for a second term, so that Georgia return to the European path. If the charter I proposed (an action plan for the opposition in case of victory in the elections) will work, I am ready to be a negotiating With our European partners, ”Zurabishvili said in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro, published on the website of the President of Georgia.
Zurabishvili accused the current authorities of Georgia of “trying to tear the country from Europe and place under the protectorate of Russia.”
According to the head of state, the ruling party “Georgian dream – democratic Georgia” with its actions, including the adoption of the “Law on Ino Agents”, made a “very honest choice in favor of rapprochement with Moscow.”
Salome Zurabishvili was elected to the post of President of Georgia in 2018. Its powers expire in the fall of this year.
