Georgian Prosecutor’s Office Began Investigation Of Alleged Falsification In Elections

Georgian prosecutor’s office began an investigation in the case of alleged falsification in the parliamentary elections.

“On the basis of the appeal of the Central Election Commission of October 30, 2024, the Georgian prosecutor’s office began an investigation on the fact of the alleged falsification of the parliamentary elections, which has signs of a crime under Article 164³. Criminal Code of Georgia,” the press service of the Georgian prosecutor’s office said.

According to the CEC and the information common in the media, it is assumed that the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has evidence of the possible falsification of the 2024 parliamentary elections, the press service noted.

In this regard, in accordance with the law, the President of Georgia is called to the investigative body for interrogation on October 31 of the current year, follows from the message.

Georgian prosecutor’s office will simultaneously carry out all the necessary investigative and procedural actions specified in the CEC circulation in order to study the facts voiced by the President of Georgia, separate political parties and representatives of observation missions, the press service of the investigative body.

During the investigation, all persons who may have information about the proposed offense will be questioned, follows from the message.

“We inform the public that law enforcement agencies actively conduct investigations for a number of criminal cases in order to study individual violations identified in the pre-election period and on election day,” the prosecutor’s office noted.

The prosecutor’s office will periodically inform the public about the results of the investigation, added to the investigative body.
