, said in an interview with the newspaper Die Zeit.
According to Varnig, Putin’s fear of coronavirus infection is unimaginably great, because of this he is fenced off from the outside world: almost no one is allowed to the President of the Russian Federation, and the main communication with him occurs through the phone and video calls. “He is very trying to keep contact with me. I am the only one who can say something to him,” says Varnig. At the same time, the head of Nord Stream 2 did not notice the signs that Putin could be sick.
In one of the recent meetings, Varnig, according to him, told Putin: “You can’t win this war. There are no winners in it.” The President of Russia did not argue with him, the German businessman notes.
