German Chancellor And Iranian President Discussed Situation In Middle East

German Chancellor Olaf Sholts held a telephone conversation with Iran President Masuda Cyezeshkian.

According to the written statement of the Deputy Spokesman of the Government of Germany Wolfgang Bukhner, Chancellor Scholz expressed his concern to the danger of regional conflict in the Middle East.

Scholz called on President Pesheshkin to do everything possible to prevent further escalation of military tension and stated that the violence spiral in the Middle East should be immediately interrupted. According to him, otherwise there will be innumerable dangers for the countries and peoples of the region.

The Chancellor emphasized that the ceasefire and the agreement on the release of hostages in the gas sector should be completed and implemented as soon as possible to put the end of the conflict. The Chancellor said this would make a significant contribution to a decrease in tension in the region.
