German Foreign Minister went to Kiev and Moscow

FRG Foreign Minister Annala Berbok before visits to Kiev and Moscow emphasized the Western’s readiness to negotiate with Russia about the discharge of tension in the conflict around Ukraine, writes dw.com.

“We are ready for a serious dialogue about bilateral agreements and steps that will bring more security to everyone in Europe, including Russia,” she said before flying to Kiev on Monday, January 17, in Berlin.

At the same time, Berbble stressed that the West “cannot and will not make concessions on fundamental principles, for example, territorial integrity, freedom of selection of unions and blocks and abandonment of violence as a policy tool.”

According to Berbok, “the premise of diplomacy is to understand the point of view of the other party, even if she adheres to absolutely opposite opinion.” The minister said that he would carefully listen to his interlocutors in Kiev and Moscow, but at the same time, “with all the clarity” to bring the position of the West.
