German politicians call on local Turks to take part in elections

German politicians call on German citizens of Turkish origin to vote on the upcoming elections on September 26, writes Daily Sabah.

“I urge all citizens of Turkish origin to vote in these elections, regardless of which party they support, to say their word in defining their own the same future,” Anadolu told the candidate from the Social Democratic Party (SDPG) without Baradari, adding that even one voice can be of great importance.

Baradari, Candidate of SDPG in Merkish district (North Rhine-Westphalia), believes that the current elections are of great importance for immigrants. According to her, if the SDPG will win the elections and will form the following coalition government, it will contribute to closer links between the EU and Turkey, as well as solving many problems by dialogue.

Another German politician of Turkish origin, a representative of the Christian-Democratic Union (XDS) Serap Güler also called on the members of the Turkish community, especially the youth, vote in these elections.

Community representatives hope that the composition of the Bundestag will become more diverse, it will have more deputies with the immigrant past. Such have almost 25% of the German population, but now in parliament only 58 immigrant deputies are about 8% of the total number of legislators.

On September 26, parliamentary elections will be held in Germany and on the same day in the country will choose a new chancellor. According to the social stamps, the majority of Germans see the head of the government of the Deputy from SPDG Olaf Scholz. Of the 60.4 million people who have the right to vote in Germany, almost 1 million ethnic Turks. But in previous elections, the Turks did not show activity – the turnout was very low.
