Germany can put 19 Leopard 2 combat tanks on Ukraine from its own Bundeswehr reserves (the Federal Reserve Ban for Forces), Der Spiegel reported with reference to its own sources.
According to his information, the German Ministry of Defense since the beginning of the summer of 2022 had a detailed list of various Leopard models, which are at the disposal of the Bundeswehr. It also indicates which models can be considered for supplies to Ukraine. According to the document, as Der Spiegel writes, there are 312 Leopard 2 different models in the Bundeswehr. At the same time, 99 were under repair in May last year, and one was written off.
If the German government can agree to the supply of military tanks to Kyiv, the German models of Leopard 2A5, as notes, can be combined with Leopard 2 models from other European countries such as Poland. The fact that the Bundeswehr combat tanks are probably now available for delivery to Ukraine, as the publication summarizes, puts pressure on the new head of the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany Boris Pistorius.
