The Way of Ukraine to the European Union will be long and not easy, said Annalena Berobok, head of the German Foreign Ministry head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with the Romanian television channel Digi.
According to her, “Ukrainians see the future in Europe, in the European Union.”
“The path there will be long and, of course, sometimes difficult, but we do our best to support Ukraine in the process of harmonizing its legal system and standards with EU standards,” Berbok said.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the EU leadership also needs to prepare for the entry of new countries, because it is not enough to “raise flags over the Council building in Brussels.”
Berobok also emphasized that the EU should be able to make general decisions with an expanded composition. Therefore, Germany supports the rejection of the principle of decision -making in a number of regions, in which the EU can make a general decision only if all countries vote for it.
Recall, on June 23, the EU approved the provision of candidates for joining the Union Ukraine and Moldova.
