Former head of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces Georgi Kalandadze detained in Berlin at the request of the Georgian authorities, the Georgian TV channel Mtavari Arkhi reports with reference to relatives and close retired general.
According to the television channel, Kalandadze detained in the criminal case on torture and illegal deprivation of freedom of a citizen of Georgia Elferd Kobheridze in 2012.
Georgian authorities of the official statement have not yet been distributed.
Kalandadze headed Georgian General Staff from October 8 to November 11, 2012 under President Mikhail Saakashvili. After changing power in Georgia in 2014, Kalandadze went to Ukraine with like-minded people.
