Germany: Europe Is Determined To Respond To Changes In International Arena

Europe is determined to respond to changes in the international arena. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Sholts at a press conference after the Summit of the leaders of the European Union (EU), held in Brussels.

Scholz noted that European leaders gathered for the fourth time in Brussels to discuss the difficult situation in the world, and mainly in Europe.

“It is good that we are closely coordinating our actions at the European level, and also communicate with partners outside the EU, such as Great Britain, Norway and Turkey,” he said.

Scholz also reported a meeting with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the sidelines of the summit, noting that Kyiv received a signal from everyone that “Ukraine will not be left in trouble.”

-we want the United States to remain a partner of Ukraine

German Chancellor noted that Europeans agreed to provide more active support from Ukraine.

“We want to do everything so that the United States remains a partner of Ukraine and continues to support this country with us and our other international friends,” he said.

According to Sholts, Ukraine should also have a strong army after a possible achievement of a peace agreement.

Commenting on the statements of France President Emmanuel Macron on the spread of the nuclear umbrella for Europe, Scholz said that such a proposal should not undermine the existing system of joint use of NATO nuclear weapons.
