Germany has lost the trust of the European Union due to close relations with Russia in the energy sector, writes Foreign Affairs.
According to the publication, the close energy relations of Germany with Russia led to a deficit of trust among many European allies of the republic. “In particular, due to the refusal to suspend the project of the Northern Stream – 2 gas pipeline just a few days before the start of the war in Ukraine,” the publication explains.
The publication notes that Germany in the foreseeable future will be able to regain its leadership in solving the wider problems of EU security.
