German authorities refused to put 100 BMP Marder at the request of Ukraine, writes WELT with reference to government sources in Kyiv.
RBC transfers that the German military department received from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov received a letter to the delivery of machines at the disposal of the German edition. The written response from Berlin did not follow, but, according to Welt interlocutors, the Minister of Defense of Germany, Christina Lambrecht, told Reznikov on the refusal by phone.
In the Ministry of Defense of Germany, the newspaper confirmed that the discussion of deliveries with the Ukrainian side was really conducted, but explained that BMP Marder “is associated with obligations towards NATO” and the decision on their deliveries should be taken “within NATO”. In addition, the federal government is engaged in such issues, and not the defense department, stressed in the ministry.
