The German government will allocate an additional billion euros from its budget for 2023. Money will go to finance specialists who are engaged in the documentation of war crimes, and protection against Russian cyberats, writes Reuters.
In October, the UN Independent International Commission summed up the results of the investigation of war crimes in Ukraine and said that Russia is responsible for the vast majority of them. Experts visited four areas – Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkov and Sumy, where they interviewed more than 190 victims and witnesses of crimes in 27 settlements, and investigators inspected the destruction, burials, detention and torture. They also studied the remnants of weapons and arrays of documents.
In addition to the UN, war crimes in Ukraine are investigated by the International United Investigative Group (OSG) and the prosecutor’s office of the Hague International Criminal Court (MUS).
