Virtual reconstruction in Chantlyurf helps to better understand the riddles of the 12-thousand-thousand-in-law monument to Göbekli Tepe, which is the most important archaeological object of the Neolithic era and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
As the director of the Culture and Tourism Department of Chanlyurfs Aydin Aslan noted, Göbekli-Tepe is considered one of the oldest religious centers of mankind. “The exact dimensions of stone monoliths reaching 6 meters in height and weighing up to 60 tons, as well as images of wild animals on these stones confirm its historical significance,” Aslan emphasized.
In order to better understand the importance of this monument and its role in history, the Center for Virtual Reconstruction was created in Shanlyurf, which, using animation, tells about the construction of Göbekli-Tepe and its place in the context of the development of human civilization. The center helps visitors see the process of transition from the ice age to the Neolithic, the development of agriculture and domestication of animals, as well as the structure of the complex itself.
“We offer visitors a unique opportunity to understand how the people of that time moved from hunters and gatherers to a settled life, built their first settlements and created such monuments as Goelkly -Tepe,” said Aydin Aslan.
The audience who visited the center expressed delight from virtual reconstructions. 11-year-old Mehmet Bektash said: “This is an amazing place! I felt as if I was endured in ancient times.” The 7-year-old Umit Yyldyz noted that the animation films shown in the center reminded him of the popular animated series “Rafadan Tif”, and added: “I really liked it, I am glad that I came.” Nurgul Gunal, who also visited the center, shared her impressions: “It was very impressive! I even watched twice how it was described in detail about the life of those times.”
Local authorities recommend that everyone who plans to visit Goobli-Tepe start starting with a virtual center in order to more deeply understand the history of this unique monument.
