Gold deposit in Uzbekistan recognized as largest in world

Analytical Center Kitco has published the top 10 deposits for gold production in 2020. The Muruntau field in the Navoi region of Uzbekistan took the first line of the rating, CentralAsia reports.

The Muruntau mining complex, located in Uzbekistan and consisting of open mines, according to Kitco estimates, produced just over 2 million ounces of gold in 2020, the report said.

“With a resource base estimated at more than 150 million ounces, Muruntau is likely to retain the title of the largest gold mine in the world in the near future,” the center said in a report.
