The Russian government approved a list of regions and territories where mining will be prohibited from January 1, 2025. This was reported by TASS with reference to the relevant government decree.
restrictions will be valid until March 15, 2031. The ban on mining will operate in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, as well as in the so-called “new regions of the Russian Federation”-Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.
In addition, mining will be prohibited in some territories of the Irkutsk region, Buryatia and the Trans -Baikal Territory, but temporarily in the peaks of energy consumption. In 2025, they occurred for the period from January 1 to March 15, and in the following years – from November 15 to March 15.
As TASS explained in the Cabinet of Ministers, the list of regions and territories is not final: it can be adjusted according to the results of the decisions of the right to committee on the development of electric power industry. The task of such restrictions is to preserve the balance of energy consumption, taking into account industry requests.
The government reported plans to limit mining in 13 regions back in November. Since November, mining in the Russian Federation has been legalized subject to the provision of information about the received assets and addresses of crypto -boats to the Federal Tax Service (Federal Tax Service).
