Government Of Uzbekistan Introduced Official Logo Of CITES COP20

The Government of Uzbekistan presented an official logo of the upcoming 20th meeting of the conference of the parties (COP20) of the Convention on the International Trade of the Views of the Wild Fauna and Flora, which are under threat of disappearance (CITES), which will be held in Samarkand from November 24 to December 5, 2025. < /p>

According to Uzdaily, the presentation of the logo developed by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Climate Climate took place on February 3 in the city of Geneva in Switzerland in the framework of the 78th meeting of the Cites.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Changes Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that the COP20 logo serves as a symbol of Uzbekistan’s adherence to maintaining valuable wild species in the country.

Each of its elements is of particular significance, reflecting the inextricable connection between nature, culture and history of our region, the head of the department noted.

“Uzbekistan is proud to accept COP20 – an important platform for discussing global problems related to preserving biodiversity. We are sure that the upcoming meeting will be a step forward in strengthening international cooperation and developing practical mechanisms for maintaining wildlife,” the minister said.

The presented logo depicts several elements of the national natural and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan: the ancient Petroglyph with the image of Archar (mountain ram), the therapeutic plant Rodiola Semenov (Rhodiola Semenovii) and the sights of the historical city of Samarkand, which will be held by CITES COP20.

The cave image of Archar, listed in the Appendix II Cites and the Central Asia inhabiting in the mountainous regions, recalls the need to maintain rare and under threat of disappearance of species, and also symbolizes the connection of nature with the historical heritage of the region. The flowers of the medicinal plant emphasize the vital role of the flora in ecosystems and its importance to human health.

The sights of Samarkand, one of the oldest cities in the world, reflect a rich history, culture and hospitality of Uzbekistan.

The city will not only become the venue for the meeting, but also represents the bridge between the past and the future, symbolizing the unity of cultural and environmental heritage.

Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary General of Cites Mr. Ivon Iguero congratulated the government of Uzbekistan on a successful logo and noted the following. “This emblem of the magnificent wildlife of Uzbekistan perfectly conveys the spirit of the 50 -year -old CITES heritage in the field of preservation and is a specific step in creating conditions for our important discussions and decisions that are to be made on COP20,” he said.

Uzbekistan is the first country in Central Asia to accept the meeting of 185 sides (184 countries + European Union) CITES and a wide range of interested parties in the field of preserving and trade in wild animals.

At a global event that will be organized in the “Environmental Environment and” Green “Economics” year, more than 4,000 participants and delegates are expected to participate.
