The representative of the Ottoman dynasty from the genus of the Sultan Abdulhamid II – Emel Adra congratulated the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re -election to the post of head of state and thanked him for upholding the interests of his kind.
Emel Adra, who now lives in Beirut, told Anadol about a letter sent to the Turkish leader after the May elections in Turkey.
She noted that her grandfather Mehmet Selim settled in Lebanon, where she grew up.
According to her, she often visits Turkey, and for the last time she was in February 2018 with the aim of participating in a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the death of the Sultan Abdulhamid II in Istanbul.
After the Turkish presidential election, Adra addressed the letter to President Erdogan on May 29, in which she congratulated the Turkish leader on the re -election and thanked that he “united Turkey with ancient history, reconciled it with its past and defended my family.”
“I am Emel Adra, the grandson of my great -grandfather Sultan Abdulhamid in the fourth generation and Hafidi (grandson) of my grandfather Mehmed Selim, I live in Lebanon,” she wrote, wishing the success of the head of state.
Adra told Anadol that at the conference under the auspices of Erdogan, she got the opportunity to meet with all representatives of her family. “I am grateful to Erdogan. He was always there,” she said.
