If the UK is faced with a lack of gas, the country may be completely terminating the supply of energy resources to continental Europe, reports Financial Times with reference to sources. A number of British energy companies called on the government of the United Kingdom to refrain from such decisions due to possible negative consequences for the economy.
According to the publication, in the case of an acute lack of a resource in the domestic market, the UK will block the supply of a two -way interconnector crossing the North Sea and leading to Belgium. The British electric power company National Grid reported that the UK government annually revises the supply plan and the current decision will “reflect circumstances”. European gas companies called for the UK to continue to cooperate with the EU and warned about the unpleasant consequences of the disconnection of the interconnector.
