Great Britain sent warship to shores of Gayana

The UK sent the Royal Fleet ship to Gayan to support her former colony Gayan because of the situation with Venezuela in the controversial region of Essekibo. This was reported by the British media with reference to the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom.

According to the representative of the British department, the ship will reach Gayana’s coast by the end of the month.

“HMS Trent will visit Gayan, his regional ally and partner in the Commonwealth, later this month as part of a series of military exercises in the region during his patrol in the Atlantic,” he said.

The HMS Trent ship since the beginning of December has been patrolling in the Caribbean as part of the fight against drug trafficking.

Dispute regarding the Essexibo region

The dispute about the Essekibo region between Venezuela and Gayana dates back to the period preceding the acquisition of independence by Gayan.

During the British colony, the Essekibo River was designated as the western border of Gayan according to the decision of the border arbitration of 1899.

However, Gayana, who gained independence in 1966 and entered the Commonwealth of Nations in 1970, did not recognize this border and declared Essexibo.

Currently, the Essexibo region or the region, known as Gayana -Essext, is the controversial territory in the West of the Modern Republic of Gayan, in the Essekibo River basin.

It is noted that this region is extremely rich in natural resources.
