Great Britain stopped import of liquefied gas from Russia

The UK stops the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia from January 1, said the Foreign Ministry of the United Kingdom.

“Today, Great Britain has stopped all the import of Russian liquefied natural gas,” the British Foreign Ministry said in a message on Twitter.

Last year, London imported 3.12 billion cubic meters. m of Russian gas – 4% of the total consumption of this type of fuel. After the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Great Britain sharply reduced the import of Russian gas. Earlier, the British authorities said that they would completely stop importing LNG from the Russian Federation from January 1, 2023.

The average annual volume of gas consumed in the UK is about 75 billion cubic meters.
