Greece: Anti -government Action Of Farmers Was Held

Greek farmers who arrived in Thessaloniki on dozens of tractors arranged a large -scale protest.

The key points of the requirements of farmers were the exemption of diesel fuel taxes used in agriculture, reducing electricity prices, the abolition of VAT for purchases for the agricultural sector, complete compensation for damage to agricultural lands injured from natural disasters, as well as an increase in pension payments to farmers.

Protesters said that without these measures, the cost of production remains too high, which jeopardizes the future of agriculture in the country.

The rally participants wanted to continue the action at the hotel, where the event with the participation of Greece Prime Minister Kiriakos Micotiacisis took place. However, access to the building was limited.

The police took reinforced security measures and blocked the roads leading to the hotel, which ultimately led to the end of the action.

In addition, beekeepers and breeders who supported the requirements of the demonstrators also joined the protest of representatives of the agricultural sector.
