Pegasus tanker under the Russian flag was detained by the port authorities in the port of Ceristos on the island of Evie in Greece, the Athenian News Agency reports.
The decision was made to combat money laundering in the framework of the implementation of sanctions imposed by the EU and NATO against the courts representing the interests of Russia, the Agency notes. On board the vessel are 19 Russian sailors. According to information, sanctions relate to the vessel, and not its cargo.
The Agency reports that the tanker due to mechanical damage was accompanied by a tug before Peloponnese, where oil was supposed to be overloaded to another tanker, but because of bad weather, he anchored in the Alcosos Bay, on the southern tip of the Island of Eviea.
